»In October 2023, the female neo-garage punk duo Sun Cousto from Biel in French-speaking Switzerland set off to experience an unforgettable adventure in Japan. For three intensive weeks, they discover the country, driven by Shinkansen-like energy. On the completely self-organized tour, the two twee LoFi punks roam the streets of the megacities, sell Ranma-inspired merch, scream their heads off – and even experience a horror story.«
A very unique travelogue of the completely self-organized tour of Japan by the neo-garage/twee lo-fi punk duo Sun Cousto from Biel in French-speaking Switzerland. The half-length short film shows how the two musicians (guitar, drums, alternating vocals) move through foreign megacities and a very diverse scene of like-minded people for three weeks with great naturalness. Along the way, they also shoot a horror movie, which infects this film and occasionally pushes it into the realm of fiction. A great document about how music-making and international exchange beyond fame works today and what this business can look like – perhaps on a small scale, but low-threshold and running smoothly. So much for “lost in translation”: openness beats melancholy!
