Dear friends,
We are very pleased that we have succeeded in entering into a cooperation with a local heavyweight of the German media industry. For our 13th edition we could win Studio Hamburg Enterprises as a supporter.
Studio Hamburg Enterprises praises the award for the best music documentary at UNERHÖRT! 2019. The prize is endowed with 1.000,- € and is awarded by a three-member jury, in which once again competence in music and film is concentrated.
From 6 to 10 November 2019 we will be showing a total of 21 films, a music video programme and a keynote lecture, all of which will be summarised in 20 individual events.
Focal points:
Films from the mother countries of pop culture will be awarded the label “Mainlands of Pop”. This year, these include a total of ten titles, including the films “Dennis and Lois” (about a US-American punk veteran couple), “Everybody In The Place – An Incomplete History of Britain 1984-1992” (about the so-called Second Summer of Love of Acid House in the UK) or “Boy Howdy! – The Story of Creem Magazine” about influential rock journalism.
Tour du Monde” is about music from all over the world – with films like “French Game”, “Single Collection”, “Peter vs. Harry”, “Under the Underground” and the double programme “METAL IN ASIA” we have a colourful bouquet of regions and music styles together.
Under “Heimspiel” we show films produced in Germany: These include “Brüder Kühn – Zwei Musiker spielen sich frei”, “Shayne” as well as the latest rummage in the TV archive of UNERHÖRT! permanent guest Oliver Schwabe about “Die Legendäre Plattenküche”, the cult music programme of the same name on public television.
Studio Hamburg Enterprises also contributes to the programme of this year’s music film festival: “Cum On Feel The Noize” – an overview of 50 years of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal history (of course not competing).
The double program “BLACK MOVES TODAY” includes the British production “Black To Techno” and the French Voguing portrait “Fabulous”.
We are happy to have music films with especially well-known artists in our program again this year. The opening film “A Dog Called Money” shows PJ Harvey in action. As a matinée we show “Amazing Grace” with the great gospel singer Aretha Franklin. “Miles Davis – Birth of Cool” – the story of a unique talent. “New Order: Decades” – concert film about the post-punk heroes with 12 synthesizers. And also the INXS singer portrayed in “Mystify: Michael Hutchence” was connectable for millions during his lifetime.
UNERHÖRT! also accompanies this year’s conference “Youth, Music and Film”, which takes place simultaneously in Hamburg. There will be workshops, keynotes and panel discussions.
Two events of the conference will take place directly at UNERHÖRT!
Diedrich Diederichsen on 7 November at 8 p.m. in the 3001 cinema, with a keynote speech on the topic: “Series, sequence, statics and statistics – What did Direct Cinema want from music?
And on Friday 8.11., the two cultural scientists Carol Vernallis (Berkeley, Stanford) and Holger Schulze (Copenhagen) will be in the B-Movie under the title “Music Video Thrills The Pop Star? Analyzing and Discussing Music Videos.
